Meta Escapes CFPB Probe Into Financial Services Advertising

Facebook and Instagram parent Meta Platforms Inc. said it is no longer facing potential penalties from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over advertising for financial services on its platforms.

The CFPB informed Meta Sept. 25 that it closed the investigation, the company said in a quarterly securities filing posted Thursday. The closed probe is the latest in a broad enforcement pullback instituted by acting CFPB Director Russell Vought and another win for the tech giant over Biden-era scrutiny.

The CFPB didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
