Nantucket Offshore Wind Project Suspension Hit With Lawsuit

A Nantucket community group has levied another lawsuit to stop development of a New England offshore wind project, adding to the Trump administration’s efforts to suspend such operations along the East Coast.

ACK for Whales Inc. said the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s 2021 approval for the Vineyard Wind 1 project violates the Outer Continental Shelf Act, since it didn’t adequately consider national safety concerns by not conducting a “project-specific radar line-of-sight or interference analysis” for radar systems, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
