Plaintiffs Ask Court to Continue PFAS Superfund Case Against US

Superfund claims against the federal government over its releases of PFAS must proceed to fulfill the law’s goal of moving quickly to start cleanups of hazardous substances, a coalition of 23 towns and other parties told a federal district court.

The Superfund law is designed to quickly establish responsible parties’ liability for hazardous substances “so that affected parties can undertake the necessary clean-up without delay and in the confidence that they will be reimbursed,” the plaintiffs coalition told the US District Court for the District of South Carolina Thursday.
