The world’s largest verifier of corporate climate goals is updating its approach to give greater recognition to the challenges companies face in decarbonizing.
The Science Based Targets initiative has set out a new strategy for the next five years aimed at better translating climate science into the “commercial realities” of the companies setting emissions goals. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach to target-setting, SBTi said Thursday it will adopt a more tailored framework based on what companies can realistically influence.
