Canadian Tycoon Nixes Plan to Sell Warehouse for Use as ICE Jail

Canadian billionaire Jimmy Pattison’s development company said Friday it won’t move forward with the sale of a Virginia warehouse that the Department of Homeland Security planned to convert into an ICE jail.

The decision comes after pushback in Hanover County, Virginia, the location of the roughly 550,000-square-foot (52,000-square-meter) warehouse DHS was eyeing, as well as a planned protest in Vancouver, where Jim Pattison Developments is based.
