DHS Chief Mullin Says He Canceled Most Contracts Left by Noem

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the department has canceled most contracts that had been pending when he took over from former Secretary Kristi Noem, a sign he’s putting his own mark on an agency that has faced months of turmoil.

At a hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, Mullin said he took a fresh look at agreements that were still awaiting approval when he arrived and decided to scrap most of them. He’s allowing contracts already in place to proceed pending reviews by the department’s inspector general.
