Fluor Ordered to Pay $15 Million in Afghanistan Fraud Suit (1)

Fluor Corp. must pay $15 million for defrauding the US Army by overbilling for logistics services in Afghanistan, a jury said.

Four whistleblowers showed Wednesday that Fluor violated the False Claims Act by concealing, avoiding or improperly decreasing an obligation to pay the government, after a trial at the US District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Judge Joseph Dawson III presided over the trial, which started Jan. 28.
