NASA’s New Space Suits May Not Be Ready by 2028 Moon Landing

NASA may not have new lunar spacesuits ready by the time the agency hopes to land humans back on the moon in 2028, according to a new US government audit.

The agency’s Office of Inspector General warned in a report released Monday that suits being developed by Houston-based Axiom Space Inc. may not be ready until 2031 if the company experiences delays typical of past spacesuit development.

The report indicated that based on historical comparisons spacesuits can take nearly nine years to develop, from the time contracts are signed to the time they are ready for in-space demonstrations.
