The Pentagon has endorsed the Aukus security agreement among the US, UK and Australia, backing the initiative to provide Australia with nuclear submarines and share critical technologies among the allies.
“Consistent with President Trump’s guidance that AUKUS should move ‘full steam ahead,’ the review identified opportunities to put AUKUS on the strongest possible footing,” chief spokesman Sean Parnell said.
The Biden-era plan had been uncertain since Trump returned to office and launched a review, raising fears in London and Canberra that it could be scrapped.
