Germany Drafts Change to Global Minimum Tax Reporting Regulation

The German Finance Ministry on Wednesday issued draft legislation that would add to its global minimum tax reporting requirements a list of jurisdictions that have applied the tax domestically for companies’ reference.

Among countries listed that have the qualified domestic minimum top-up tax (QDMTT) are Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Ireland, Qatar, and New Zealand, among dozens more for companies’ reference when they fill out their global minimum tax returns.

The global minimum tax, known as Pillar Two of the 2021 international tax pact, seeks to charge multinational companies at least a 15% rate in every country where they operate.
