Mexican Unicorn Bitso Expands Beyond Crypto With Stock Trading

Mexican cryptocurrency exchange Bitso is branching out beyond digital assets with the launch of a global stock investment platform.

The new product, a partnership with brokerage platform Alpaca, will allow users in Mexico to buy and sell fractional shares and ETFs from more than 5,000 US-listed companies directly through Bitso’s app. Investors can start with as little as 20 pesos (about $1) and access funds immediately, according to a company statement.

“Our clients’ number one request was buying and selling other assets,” Daniel Vogel, chief executive officer of Bitso, said during an interview following a company event in Mexico ...
