PayPal’s Honey Sheds Influencers’ Affiliate Link Hijacking Suit

Influencers alleging PayPal Inc.'s browser shopping extension Honey stole their affiliate link commissions didn’t identify a cognizable injury, a federal judge said Friday dismissing the lawsuit.

“At bottom, the problem with the” complaint “is that it does not establish the Plaintiffs were in fact entitled to those commissions pursuant to their contracts with the merchants,” said Judge Beth Labson Freeman of the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

The content creators alleged Honey supplanted their affiliate links and reduced their commissions. The extension claimed to aggregate online coupons and help users easily find deals while shopping online. ...
