UK Publishes First Employment Rights Act Commencement Regulation

The first commencement regulation for the UK’s Employment Rights Act 2025, published Jan. 8, brings the act’s provisions on parental and paternity leave into effect April 6.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional and Saving Provisions) Regulations 2026 generally bring those provisions into effect April 6, but also allows the government to make further regulations for those sections and for the provisions on bereavement leave starting the day after it was published.
