Vermont’s 2026 Unemployment-Taxable Wage Base Set at $15,400

Vermont’s unemployment-taxable wage base will rise to $15,400 from $13,800 for 2026, according to an Oct. 6 Department of Labor news release.

The unemployment-taxable wage base is the annual limit on the amount of an employee’s wages subject to state unemployment insurance taxes, according to the news release.

Vermont announced employers’ unemployment insurance tax rates earlier this year, effective from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Vermont is one of the few states that determines its unemployment taxes for a period from July 1 to June 30 instead of the calendar year.
