Washington’s unemployment-taxable wage base will rise to $78,200 from $72,800 for 2026, according to a news release from the Employment Security Department.
The wage base limits the amount of an employee’s wages that are subject to state unemployment insurance taxes, according to the news release.
The department intends to calculate unemployment tax rates for employers and notify them via mail in December, according to the news release. Unemployment tax rates are based on the size of an employer’s payroll and the amount of unemployment benefits received by former employees.
