An anti-tobacco public health group report says the industry’s lobby has grown in 2025 compared with recent years, increasing efforts to delay or pull back federal and state measures that seek to reduce tobacco use.
The report released Thursday by the Action on Smoking and Health found that industry lobbyists’ and lobbying firms’ registrations increased by 24% this year compared with 2024. The group identified 1,275 registrations, which was an increase from the 1,027 registrations in 2024 and 927 registrations in 2023.
