The Trump administration convinced a federal judge to put on hold a lawsuit over the abortion medication mifepristone, giving the FDA time to conduct a long-awaited safety review of the drug.
Tuesday’s order pauses litigation brought by Louisiana seeking to restrict access to mifepristone. Louisiana filed the lawsuit in October against the Food and Drug Administration, claiming an agency decision under former President Joe Biden allowed the drug to be mailed into the state, making it difficult to enforce their abortion restrictions.
