Delta Dental Insurance Co. misleads patients over how much out-of-network care is covered under its plans, according to a proposed class action.
The case, filed Dec. 31 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges the insurance company promises to pay 100% of preventative care and 80% of “basic services” for out-of-network providers, but then underpays clinicians and sticks enrollees with the remaining balance.
