Two key Democratic senators have called on the Trump administration to provide clarity about forthcoming Medicaid changes under the Republican tax law, warning that the overhaul of states’ programs will have grave consequences for kids and seniors with disabilities.

Oregon Democrats Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley are concerned that states are facing operational challenges to implement changes to Medicaid passed under the Republican tax law earlier this year. In a letter released Friday, the lawmakers warned the law blocked the implementation of Biden-era rules to streamline Medicaid enrollment and set minimum staffing standards for nursing homes.
