Family planning clinics that receive federal funds were granted a lifeline Tuesday when the Trump administration signaled it would provide another year of grant money a day before funding is set to lapse.
Title X, the federal program that subsidizes family planning care, provides five-year grants to eligible groups. The fourth year of grant cycle funding was set to expire April 1.
The move to fund clinics, including Planned Parenthood affiliates, is unexpected as providers were bracing for a funding gap after delays at the Department of Health and Human Services in issuing its latest renewal application.
