The US Federal Trade Commission and several states sued the leading professional association focused on transgender healthcare Wednesday, alleging the group deceived parents about the medical necessity and safety of medical transitions.

The World Professional Association of Transgender Health, a nonprofit known as WPATH, publishes the Standards of Care, a set of influential guidelines for healthcare professionals who treat trans individuals.
