The House Education and Workforce Committee on Thursday approved several bills impacting health and retirement plans, including legislation to ban referral fees for consultants handling bids for pharmacy benefit managers.
The committee advanced a bill (H.R. 7895) from Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee Chairman Rick Allen (R-Ga.) that would ban PBMs and related service providers from paying commissions to brokers and consultants for referring their business to health plans. PBMs manage prescription drugs for health plans.
