The National Institutes of Health Director Jay Bhattacharya will become the acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after a year of chaotic leadership changes in the public health agency.
Bhattacharya will continue in his role at NIH while he runs the CDC, according to an administration official. He is the second acting director of the CDC during Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s reign. Trump is still searching for a permanent replacement, the official said.
