Texas Joins Legal Fight With Insulin Makers, PBMs Over Costs (1)

Texas on Thursday became the latest state to take insulin manufacturers and the top entities managing prescription drug benefits to court over allegations that the companies have conspired to artificially raise the price of diabetes medications.

The lawsuit from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) filed in Texas District Court, Travis County, includes allegations that insulin manufacturers Eli Lilly & Co., Novo Nordisk A/S, and Sanofi SA have worked together with pharmacy benefit managers CVS Caremark, Express Scripts, and OptumRx to engage in an “insulin pricing scheme,” resulting in “physical, emotional, and financial tolls” for Texans ...
