Texas lawmakers have unveiled comprehensive AI legislation for regulating its use in the public and private sectors that is similar to a first-in-the-nation Colorado law, but with key differences tailored to the Republican-controlled state.
The Lone Star state would become the largest state to ban AI-enabled discrimination in activities such as banking, housing, and government services, according to a draft of the bill from Texas state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R). Other GOP-dominated legislatures could follow its lead.
