Trump’s ‘Disturbing’ Medical Research Cuts Panned by Key Senator

Cures and treatments for deadly diseases and ailments would be delayed or lost if the Trump administration is allowed to slash funding for the National Institutes of Health, a key Senate Republican told that agency’s chief Tuesday.

President Donald Trump’s budget request would slash more than $18 billion for the agency, from $46 billion in fiscal 2025 to less than $28 billion. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) called the nearly 40 percent cut “disturbing.”
