Carbon Neutral Claims Face New Scrutiny Under California Law

Companies claiming that products they sell in California are carbon neutral will have to prove it under an anti-greenwashing law set to take full effect Jan. 1 despite an ongoing push to delay the measure.

Legislation stalled at the state capitol this year that would have pushed back the law’s implementation to July and clarified what companies are required to report in annual disclosures mandated under the measure.
