A Texas federal judge blocked an FTC rule requiring dealmakers to divulge more information to US antitrust agencies following a lawsuit led by the US Chamber of Commerce.
Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas vacated the rule, which was slated to go into effect Feb. 10.
The Federal Trade Commission in October 2024 finalized an overhaul to what’s known as the pre-merger notification program, which requires proposed deals of a certain size to submit to an initial 30-day review by US antitrust agencies.
