A sexual abuse survivors’ rights group is lobbying insurance regulators across the country to look into Chubb Ltd.'s marketing and claims-handling practices after the Archdiocese of New York accused the insurer of waging a “shadow campaign” against the church.
The Coalition for Just and Compassionate Compensation said it was sending letters Tuesday to New York’s Department of Financial Services and other state agencies, calling on them to investigate the carrier based on its alleged actions against the archdiocese.
