More than 24 hours after Donald Trump cited Jair Bolsonaro’s legal woes as the justification for 50% tariffs on Brazil, the former president finally weighed in, calling the levies a warning to the nation and institutions he’s accused of censorship and persecution.

In a statement posted to social media, Bolsonaro largely reiterated claims he has made before about the country’s Supreme Court, saying that he and his supporters are facing a “witch hunt.”
