EU Lawmakers Advance US Trade Deal With Fresh Conditions

The European Parliament is moving closer to approving a trade deal with the US after senior lawmakers agreed to make some changes ahead of a vote planned this month.

Members of the European Parliament’s trade committee confirmed on Tuesday that they will vote on Feb. 24. They also agreed to include a sunset clause in the deal — which will expire in March 2028 unless prolonged — giving the US six months to lower the current 50% tariff on products using steel and aluminum.
