Europe Gas Ticks Lower With Traders Waiting for US-Russia Talks

European natural gas declined for a second day, with traders waiting for planned talks between the leaders of the US and Russia about the war in Ukraine.

Benchmark futures settled at the lowest level in more than a week. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump plan to meet for direct talks on Ukraine next week, the Kremlin said on Thursday. The news added to pressure on gas prices, even though the US has given Russia an Aug. 8 deadline to reach a ceasefire or face penalties that could restrict its energy flows.
