South Korea’s National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said it is difficult to be optimistic about the US accepting Seoul’s request for a currency swap as part of trade talks, Yonhap News reported.
Asked about the outlook for a deal on a currency swap, Wi said it would not be easy to secure such an arrangement based on past cases. Even if a swap were agreed, he added, it would only be a “necessary condition,” not a “sufficient one,” as many issues in the negotiations would still need to be resolved.
