Pirelli’s Tronchetti Sees End to Chinese Shareholder Tussle (1)

Pirelli & C. SpA expects its governance issues with top shareholder Sinochem Holdings Corp. to be worked out, lifting a threat that’s clouded the tire maker’s US prospects, Executive Vice Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera said.

“At some point this problem will be solved,” Tronchetti said in an interview at Bloomberg’s Future of Finance event in Milan on Wednesday. “The Italian government has stated that Pirelli has to be free to develop its tire technology.”

Ending the long-running dispute would remove an obstacle to Pirelli’s growth in the US, a market the company has focused on with its new connected-tire technology. ...
