Volvo Is Ready to Help Geely Build Cars in Europe, CEO Says

Volvo Car AB is willing to give Geely access to its European factories so the Chinese parent can build cars in the region, Chief Executive Officer Hakan Samuelsson said.

Chinese automakers that want to succeed in Europe need local production, Samuelsson said Wednesday. Companies from the Asian country are trying to sidestep European Union tariffs on their electric vehicles as they expand in the bloc.

If Geely’s brands want to manufacture cars in Europe, “we can really support them with local production,” the CEO said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. “This is an option for them.”
