Anthropic PBC removed Reddit Inc.'s California state lawsuit to federal court, arguing the social media platform’s accusations that the AI company scraped its content without permission are preempted by federal copyright law.
Reddit’s unjust enrichment, breach of contract, and tortious interference with contract claims, as well as parts of its unfair competition claim, aren’t “qualitatively different from rights protected by copyright,” Anthropic said in its notice of removal filed July 3 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
