Apple Sued Over Unsecured Gift Cards Allowing Third-Party Access

Apple Inc. is facing a proposed class action accusing the tech giant of selling unsecured and defective Apple Gift Cards that were susceptible to being drained of funds by unauthorized third parties before the purchaser could use them.

Jessica Pinczewski is seeking to represent thousands of consumers who purchased an Apple Gift Card in the US from January 1, 2020, to the present, whose Apple Gift Card was redeemed by an unauthorized third party and who didn’t receive a refund or replacement gift card. She’s also seeking certification of a subclass of California residents.
