Biotechnology Firm Hit With Patent Suit Over Fuel Production

NeoChloris LLC sued biotechnology manufacturer Cemvita Factory Inc., alleging infringement of patents covering methods to produce fuel from waste-carbon streams.

Cemvita and its Gold H2 inc. unit’s “Gold Hydrogen” and “Subsurface Carbon Sequestering/Utilization” processes use methods protected by US Patent No. 10,179,895, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. NeoChloris said Cemvita didn’t respond to a letter alleging infringement in January or to follow up emails.

The ‘895 patent deals with using microorganisms to sequester and convert carbon to fuel and other products, according to the complaint.
