Reggae legend Bob Marley’s heirs sued cannabis giant Tilray Brands Inc. on Friday over millions in payments tied to a deal licensing his name, image, and likeness.
The lawsuit, filed in Delaware’s Chancery Court, says Tilray failed to pay nearly $13 million to an entity affiliated with the music icon’s family, Marley Green LLC. The breaches led Marley Green to terminate the arrangement in 2023. But even after two subsequent agreements “partially mitigated” the damages, Tilray still owes more than $11 million, the filing says.
