The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that Apple Inc. didn’t show that some claims of Smart Mobile Technologies LLC’s patent that relates to providing multiple internet protocol-based wireless data transmissions between a wireless device and a server aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review. The court ruled that the board’s findings were supporting by substantial evidence.
