Fees Award Doubles Muhammad Ali Photographer’s $1.6 Million Win

A photographer of late boxing legend Muhammad Ali in the 1970s added $1.9 million in attorneys fees and costs to his $1.65 million copyright verdict against Authentic Brands Group LLC and a subsidiary.

Muhammad Ali Enterprises LLC and Authentic knew at least by 2018 that it had exceeded a license to use Michael Gaffney’s photos of Ali from 2011 through 2015, but kept infringing, the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Tuesday.
