Google Accused of Infringing Earth, Maps, Street View Patents

The University of Southern California accused Google LLC of patent infringement over the use and sale of the tech giant’s Earth, Maps and Street View products.

Google’s products incorporate systems to overlay 2D images onto a 3D model like US Patent Nos. 8,026,929 and 8,264,504, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. USC said it contacted Google in April 2024 to discuss a potential licensing agreement.
