InterContinental Sued by Boutique Hotel Group Over Trademarks

Boutique hotel operator Indigo Road Hospitality Group sued an InterContinental Hotels Group PLC unit, asking a court to clear it of claims it’s infringing trademarks covering “Hotel Indigo” branding.

Six Continents Hotels Inc.—which manages IHG hotel brands including Hotel Indigo, as well as Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites—sent a letter demanding Indigo Road stop using the word “Indigo” in connection with hotel, hotel management, hotel franchising and related services, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina.
