Juul’s Bid to Block New NJoy Daily and Ace Vapes Gets ITC Review

The US International Trade Commission will investigate patent-infringement claims that Juul Labs Inc. filed against Altria Group Inc. and its NJoy units over vaping devices, the agency announced.

Juul is seeking to block imports of NJoy’s Daily disposable e-cigarettes and a redesigned version of the rechargeable Ace pod system, which it says infringe US Patent No. 12,156,533, according to the ITC’s Tuesday notice. The patent, which Bloomberg Law estimates will expire in March 2035, covers nicotine-salt formulations designed to mimic cigarette-like “satisfaction.”
