The US Patent and Trademark Office is threatening sanctions against a China-based filing firm, saying the company made more than 19,000 trademark submissions on behalf of others without the right qualifications.
Shenzhen Huanyee Intellectual Property Co. violated the PTO’s rules of practice, according to an order and notice the office filed Tuesday. The firm provided “false, fictitious or fraudulent information in thousands of trademark submissions,” it said, including using the names, credentials, and signatures of US attorneys, who are required for foreign-filed applications.
The order requires Shenzhen Huanyee to show why the agency shouldn’t sanction the firm by Feb. 26. ...
