Texas can continue to ban the sale of meat and fish produced in a lab for human consumption, a federal judge ruled Friday, denying a challenge for now from out-of-state startups that are looking to expand into the beef-dominated state.
But the case will move forward, as US District Judge Alan Albright left in tact a claim that the ban violates a federal law intended to keep commerce flowing between states.
Albright announced the rulings following lengthy debate about the motivation for ban during a virtual hearing in the Western District of Texas.
