A Boston judge halted Trump administration plans to strip deportation protections for several thousand immigrants from Ethiopia.
Judge Brian E. Murphy said in an electronic order Friday that he’s staying the termination of Temporary Protected Status for the country to preserve the status quo while the merits of a legal challenge are under consideration.
The order means about 5,000 immigrants from the country will retain lawful status and employment authorization pending further court actions.
