Music Firms Threaten Anthropic With New Suit Including Piracy Claim

Music publishers suing Anthropic PBC over its AI training process said they would be compelled to file a separate lawsuit against the company if it couldn’t add a piracy claim to their copyright complaint.

The publishers—including Universal Music Corp. and Concord Music Group Inc.—said that if Anthropic successfully blocked them from amending their complaint, they would be forced to “file their new claims in a separate action,” according to a reply filed in the US District Court in the Northern District of California.
