State adoption of federal tax code changes arriving under President Donald Trump’s massive tax and spending law will be a critical theme during the Multistate Tax Commission’s annual meeting this week.
Tax administrators from roughly half of the states will also examine several emerging issues including the taxation of digital products and services, boosting tax compliance through disclosure programs, and income tax challenges posed by the recent surge in student-athletes’ earnings from name, image, and likeness deals.
