Universal Music Group convinced a federal court to narrow a proposed class action alleging it promised website visitors they could opt out of third party tracking but failed to follow through.
The plaintiffs failed to sufficiently allege their communications with music sites UMG operated were intercepted for the sake of their California Invasion of Privacy Act wiretapping or pen register claims, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said. The dismissals were with leave to amend.
